近日,我院2024级硕士研究生姜海威(第一作者)与导师龙文进副教授(通讯作者)合作撰写的论文“Does China's New-Type Urbanization Really Promote Low-Carbon Development? Longitudinal Evidence from 286 Cities (2012-2021)”在Sustainable Cities and Society发表。论文合作者包括成都理工大学王珏教授、以及我院2021级本科校友、康奈尔大学Dyson应用经济与管理学院硕士生程诗钧。

在全球城镇化加速与碳中和目标下,低碳发展成为城市可持续转型的核心议题。中国新型城镇化作为经济社会转型关键路径,虽以可持续为导向,但与低碳发展的协同性仍缺乏充分实证检验。本研究基于中国地级市数据,构建多维度评价体系,探究二者的动态演进和因果关系。分析发现,新型城镇化对低碳发展存在显著抑制效应,而二者的协调水平提升可弱化该负效应,凸显“边发展边治理”的重要性,同时产业结构升级能缓解、环境规制会加剧这一抑制效应,且存在时空异质性与空间溢出效应。本研究为助力新型城镇化与低碳发展协同推进,实现城市可持续转型与“双碳”目标提供关键政策参考。

New-type urbanization (NTU) represents a critical transition in China's urbanization trajectory, with green and low-carbon development (LCD) emerging as essential components for sustainable urban growth while minimizing environmental degradation. Previous studies assessed the impact of NTU on a single CO2 emission through isolated policies, leaving the multidimensional effects of NTU on LCD during its dynamic evolution largely unclear. Our research analyzes data from 286 prefecture-level cities spanning 2012-2021, establishing comprehensive assessment frameworks for both NTU and LCD, applying a set of econometric models to examine their interconnections and underlying mechanisms, and investigating spatiotemporal heterogeneity patterns. The results show that NTU significantly inhibits LCD, although this negative impact weakens as the level of coordination between NTU and LCD improves. Moreover, industrial structure upgrading alleviates, while environmental regulation intensifies the inhibitory effect of NTU on LCD. These findings underscore the necessity of enhancing sustainable carbon management practices, despite notable progress in pollution control during China's urbanization transition. This research contributes to expanding the analytical framework of NTU construction while providing empirical evidence and policy guidance for developing low-carbon, sustainable, and environmentally conscious urban centers.
